Where to Look
South Carolina custody is split across county jails, the state prison system, federal custody, immigration detention, court records, and notification services. The right office depends on the record.
- County jail custody: choose the county in the County Directory, then use that county's roster or detention contact.
- Sentenced state prisoners: use the SCDC incarcerated inmate search.

- SCDC public-records requests: email FOIA@doc.sc.gov or mail the FOIA Coordinator, Office of General Counsel, South Carolina Department of Corrections, Post Office Box 21787, Columbia, SC 29221-1787.
